My wife and I walked out after sitting for 20 minutes. What's funny is they have a sign saying the have the worlds best service. Only 1 server was working both rooms.
Food didn’t meet the expectation, waitress was lost and didn’t know anything about the menu. Beef teriyaki was horrible
Tried several items and nothing has disappointed yet! Glad to have this gem in town.
Very delicious!
Great food. Fresh and tasty...
Sushi is amazing here! Loved the tempura as well.
the food was good and jessie is a fantastic server! she was both knowledgeable about the menu and genuinely very friendly
Great food!
I've been coming to shin la since the kims first arrived, watched their kids grow an see their business blossom. I highly recommend the chicken and rice soup if you're sick or even begin not feeling well, this soup has some form of magic in it I swear because eat it, go to bed, wake up the next day feeling new!
Great sushi
Great food
Always friendly, and great food.
Favorite restaurant of all time.
Best sushi in town and magic chicken rice soup. That soup is a cure all.
Great authentic Korean food. Service can be slow at times. If the place is full and you're in a rush, might want to come back another time.
Great lunch spot with lots of things to choose from.
One of the few sushi places in town, cheaper, quiet, family friendly, and good variety :)
What dont I love about this place. Food is fresh and traditional. Love the family atmosphere.
Tasty authentic food like no other in the area.
Delicious food all around!
Good place for Korean food!
Not a big fan of the sushi. Couldn't finish it.
Really good food and quick service. Would go there again for some Korean food. Did not try the sushi but might try that next time.
Took way too long to even take our orders, then a simple sushi order for 3 took 45 minutes to prepare, while they only had one other table.
Nice atmosphere, decent service, nice plating, I expected this to be very good. The miso soup broth tastes like they added salty chicken broth to it. The salad's ginger dressing tasted like Italian - too vinegary, barely a hint of ginger. The wasabi was terrible, bad flavor and not spicey at all. This tasted like something an American who's never tasted Japanese food might find familiar and palatable. For $35 for one person, without any drinks, I expected wildly better, especially since a lot of the eateries near main street are both reasonably priced and excellent. But this place would have left me underwhelmed even if the price was halved. To be fair, the ginger, the mushroom roll and koala roll were very good. But still overpriced, for a menu with such dodgy hit or miss fair.
New owners, great service, fast and delicious
Home cooking Korean style
Authentic and best Korean I've had in a long time. It transported me back to Korea. The shrimp dumpling appetizer was delicious as was the big Bim bap. Bool gogi came as an entree without all of the traditional sides but was very flavorful.
Quirky, excellent blend of sushi and authentic Korean. My favorite restaurant in downtown Brattleboro Simple decor, reasonable prices.
My husband and I went to the Shin La for sushi and saki. The chicken and rice soup was fabulous along with the cold crab salad. Sushi was well made and fresh. The specialty rolls were large enough that they were filling with 6 pieces. The maki combination 2 was great with spicy tuna and salmon. Prices were fair. We’ve seen cheaper in the area and they rated the same in flavor and depth in ingredients. Good place to go if you are shopping downtown or seeing a movie at latchis.
One of my favorite places to go for sushi in Brattleboro! The selection and execution of the sushi is exciting and delicious, with creatively put together sushi specials, and many more menu items that stand out in this town. The yakisoba 10/10 age tofu 8/10, volcano roll 10/10. I fully recommend Shin-La.
I came here as a college student in 2009 and didn’t expect much. Here I am like a decade later realizing that it’s the gold standard by which ever other similar restaurant I’ve eaten at is judged , especially katsu donburi
I only tries their sushi, but it is delicious! Nice atmosphere as well, and the staff is nice
Korean food with a sushi menu to boot. A sweet little spot with soups, traditional Korean dishes, well made sushi and they serve beer.
Shin La actually seems out of place at times. It's the little joint on main street where customers fall into one of two types: those who have walked past it for years without paying attention and those who feel sorry for them while enjoying their meals. The rolls are a textual, flavor, artistic experience and I often leave feeling amazed that I actually finished everything I ordered. My personal favorite is their Shu mai (shrimp dumping apatizer) which is better than many of the big city contemporaries offer. It does not hurt that the sauce served with the dumplings would turn an old flip-flop into a Michelin star eating experience. It is one of two local eateries that my out of town friends "require" we visit while they are in town. All I can say is that I am more than willing to indulge them every time.
Best sushi I have ever had. the only bad review on here is about the service, which is't a problem with take out. VERY GOOD FOOD!
not long on decor, but best Korean food I have ever had; definitely great place!
This is a very expensive and very city sushi. So city we didn’t even finish.
We have been going to this family run restaurant for years. We love the family and the Korean and Japanese food. The only issue we have ever had is that service is sometimes quite slow.
Really good food with a laid back atmosphere. Service was quick and friendly. The presentation of the dishes were beautiful.
horrible chicken dinner, bland with no taste! tasted like a piece of boiled chicken yuck! Had to recook it when i got home!
Great people great food
Worst service I've ever had. The waitress was very rude and we were there about an hour and a half waiting for our food. The food was really good but it was 60 dollars for two soups, sushi, and 2 egg rolls. Definitely not going back.
I come here everytime I visit Brattleboro. It's cheap, delicious, and vegan friendly. I always order: zucchini pancakes, tofu veggie dumplings, cucumber salad, rice, miso soup, kimchi. And if I am extra hungry I get some vegetable sushi! My parents come here with me at times, and always order crazy delicious Korean dishes. They love it here just as much as I do. Everyone I have brought here has LOVED it.The owners are the cooks here and they are absolutely so kind and adorable. Traditional, and amazing. Thank you so much! I hope this place never goes away!
Hands down the best restaurant. All that needs to be said on this matter.
The service is good and the food is great.
Uncomfortably quiet. Wish they play music or background noise so it doesn't sound like closing time and you don't need to listen to someone's conversation at the other side of the restaurant.
Best Korean restaraunt
